Combining soft adventures with cultural exploration, this Thailand Family Adventure tour goes in search of the kingdom’s best assets. Beginning in Bangkok, encounter the glistening temples and revered statues of the capital, and soak up the grandeur of the ‘River of Kings’ and cruise along in a long tail boat when you explore this city which is like none other.

Arrival at Bangkok International Airport, you will be welcomed by our guide and transfer to the hotel.

OPTIONAL DINNER: Dinner at Cabbages & Condoms
In the evening, you will be picked up at your hotel and transferred for dinner at Cabbages & Condoms Restaurant, located right in the center of Metropolitan Bangkok. The restaurant was conceptualized in part to promote better understanding and acceptance of family planning and to generate income to support various development activities of the Population and Community Development Association (PDA). Whether you dine in the open area under multi-colored lighted trees, or the deck, or the air-conditioned rooms, the restaurant will provide you with a wonderful experience in a cozy atmosphere.

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport – Bangkok Hotel (36.4 km): approx. 50 min
After breakfast at the hotel, go on the morning sightseeing to visit Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), the Bangkok’s oldest temple is home to the magnificent reclining Buddha as well as the first school of traditional medicine and Thai massage. Relax your tiring muscles with a session of massage with well-trained masseuses, or your kids can even experience an hour body massage. Then continue to the flower market, Pak Klong Talad, the flower market where you will see many of Thailand’s exotic flowers and flora including many species of orchids.

Lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, join an amazing guided bike tour in Bangkok. Ride a very manageable sixteen kilometers all in relaxed way and will cover quite a lot of ground and are quite full and action packed. The riding is fairly easy and we follow a wide range of trails ranging from backstreets to canal paths. There are no hills or mountains as Bangkok is completely flat, so no strength is needed to join this tour. We stop frequently to allow you to make photo’s and ask questions which may arise. Thai people and their culture will warm your heart and astound you with their incredible diversity. Our bicycle tour will give you an impression of real Bangkok. (Note: The biking tour is not suitable for children under 8 years old.)

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Silom Thai Cooking School, located in the heart of Bangkok. The school caters to people with keen interests in food and culture. Learn to cook famous Thai dishes in a relaxed and friendly environment. Small classes are conducted in a traditional open kitchen, and led by certified Thai cooks, making for a high personalized and rewarding experience. Students are taught to cook complete dishes from scratch, with traditional utensils and techniques. Preparing curry paste is one of the most unique and important aspects of Thai cooking, as most of the herbs and spices are ground together in a stone mortar before being cooked in a variety of ways. All herbs are fresh picked and whole spices are used rather than pre-ground ones. Aroma is as important as taste in Thai cooking. All prep work and cooking are hands-on experiences, performed entirely by our students.

Return to the hotel.
Your guide will meet you at hotel in the late afternoon and transfer by air-conditioned vehicle to Bangkok Railway Station for an overnight train ride to Chiang Mai.

Arrive at Chiang Mai Railway in the morning. Then transfer to the hotel in Chiang Mai for fresh up and breakfast.
In the afternoon, discover the charming old city of Chiang Mai by foot. The journey starts at Somphet Market, a daily fresh market selling fresh vegetables, spices, meat, fish and sweets. Continue by walk to Wat Chiang Man, the oldest temple in Chiang Mai, and then walk about 10 minutes to the Three Kings Monument which according to the legend story has become a landmark of the city of Chiang Mai. Visit nearby Lanna Folk Life Museum, the white colonial style two-storey building still displaying the sign that says “Municipal Court of Chiang Mai”, but the interior has been totally renovated to showcase the beauty of centuries-old northern heritage. End the walking tour at the Elephant Parade for painting elephants.

Early evening night market through the labyrinth of stalls selling everything from local crafts to fun imitation goods. Choose from an astonishing variety of souvenirs, sample the smoothness of the colorful silk on sale everywhere, have a suit measured and ready for your collection the following evening, and browse exquisite Asian silver jewelry and beads. A great way to practice your bargaining skills! Enjoy dinner at the night market, and continue for a market walk at Waroros market before returning to the hotel.
Overnight in Chiang Mai.
Depart from Chiang Mai and transfer one and a half hours north to the beautiful Mae Taeng valley for an unforgettable day of multi adventure. After a short visit to a Lisu village, you will be met by majestic elephants that will take you aboard for a ride through lush green jungle to the base camp. After that, enjoy a bamboo raft down the Mae Taeng River. Disembark for a local lunch and a visit to an Akha hilltribe village before returning to Chiang Mai.

Depart by minivan for Mae Kampong village in Mae On district, driving through the picturesque countryside of Chiang Mai. The village is nestled 1,300 meters above sea level and has a cool climate all year long. En route a stop is made at a local market to select ingredients for today’s dinner. Continue to Mae Kampong village where you are met upon arrival by villagers. Start a stroll through the community forest, passing tea and coffee fields to a refreshing waterfall. Return to the village for a simple lunch prepared by your village hosts and relax with a traditional Thai massage. As the evening approaches, join your host family to prepare dinner.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: Flight of the Gibbon
In the afternoon, observe jungle life from a unique perspective, once reserved for a selected group of scientists and primates: an exhilarating opportunity to soar through the rainforest canopy on zip lines and sky bridges via the “Flight of the Gibbon” experience.

Note: Program is not suitable for children below 5 years of age or 100 cm in height. Maximum weight is 130 kg, generally athletic persons whom are large are accepted.

A hot breakfast will be served with your hosts while the morning mist is being swept away from the valley by the cool mountain wind. Take a walk around the village to see the processing of fermented tea leaves, and various products which are handmade in the village. After a last cup of local coffee, head back towards Chiang Mai stopping on the way at San Kamphaeng Hot Springs, a popular recreation area for locals. The water has a temperature in excess of 100 degrees centigrade and attempts have even been made to harness this energy!

Transfer back to Chiang Mai Airport for your flight to Phuket.

Upon arrival at Phuket Airport, you will be met and greeted by our Exo travel for transfer to your hotel in Phuket. Free at leisure.

You will be picked up at your hotel and transferred to Bang Rong Pier which is located in the northeast of Phuket Island and is surrounded by a beautiful mangrove forest.

Travel to Koh Yao Noi, a small island which was affected by the 2004 tsunami, and spend the day with the villagers learning about their traditional lifestyles and traditions as well as learning about post-tsunami recovery efforts. Partake in activities set up by the community to promote the autonomy of the people including coconut-shell souvenir making. Lunch is served by a local family, and afterwards, you visit other villages on Koh Yao Noi.

Return to Phuket late this afternoon knowing you have made a difference on your holiday!
